CULTURE & EDUCATION COMMITTEE

The Culture and Education Committee consists of noted scholars, professors, linguists and language teachers.

In 2001 we donated much of our time and talents to translating and editing the first book in English on Baracoa. This is the only available book that tells of the history of Baracoa, its culture and traditions, its flora and fauna, its geography and its people. The book is non-political.

In 2006 we published another book.                See  Publications.

The committee is involved in other activities including:

• Bilingual poetry and prose readings.
• Film showing.
• Exchanges of local music groups.
• Professional exchanges.
• Art exhibits (of Baracoan artists).
• Self-help workshops.
• Exchange of newspaper articles about historical preservation.
• Exchanges with schools: discussions dealing with educational programs.
